This week’s Video Thursday is a real treat for our leopard fans, especially those who have been closely following The Airstrip Male, and The Tamboti Female.

Captured by Winfried Simon, a visitor of ours in October 2011, this footage offers a view of the lovebirds as they groom during daylight, and get a little more active after sunset.

Says Winfried, “During our trip to South Africa in October 2011 we spent a great time on Safari in the MalaMala Reserve. We enjoyed the cozy Rattray’s Camp and all our impressive game drives.

One highlight was the chance to see leopards on several occasions close to the vehicle. On a morning game drive we saw the Airstrip Male leopard together with the Tamboti Female grooming themselves. The same day on the evening game drive after sunset when the temperatures dropped we found them mating.

This was an awesome sighting to see the leopards mating several times, just illuminated by the light from the ranger, and listening to the mating and bush sounds.”

THANK YOU for sending this along Winfried! We look forward to seeing more of your memories on film.
