This week’s instalment for Video Thursday is an excellent account of The Airstrip Male leopard, prepared by ranger Pieter van Wyk.

With magnificent visuals (both live and still), and a vocal commentary from Pieter, fans of the Aistrip Male will no doubt enjoy this informative piece.

In this instance, the power of audio is far more compelling than words – so we will leave it at that!

Enjoy,

The MalaMala Ranger Team.

  1. I can’t wait to be there! The leopards are superb at this time and the film really shows them off beautifully. Well done.

  2. What a great informative blog. Is it usual for another leopard to take over ‘mothering’ duties for a cub that is not hers? I love when things like this happen, as with a lioness taking on cubs that are not hers. Thank you.

  3. Hi Sheila,

No, it is certainly not normal for a cat to take on another’s offspring. That is what makes the story of this particular creature so incredible.

Let’s hope the same happens with the young lions of the Eyrefield pride….

    Time will tell.
